Yesterday there was a major planetary event that will have a strong global influence for the next 8 years. Uranus – the planet of sudden, sweeping change – entered the peace-loving sign of Taurus after a seven-year stint in the often-aggressive sign of Aries. During the past eight years we’ve experienced a proliferation of gun violence and violent political unrest, so this change of sign offers hope for the discovery of more peaceful solutions to global issues.
Uranus often brings change in chaotic ways, dismantling the established order through events that flash into our lives like bolts of lightning. As it moves through the earthy sign of Taurus however, the erratic energies of Uranus should manifest in more grounded ways.
Taurus is associated with the Earth’s natural resources, so environmental issues will demand our attention for the next eight years – possibly through dramatic events. For this reason there should also be wider support for activities – and businesses – that address environmental and ecological issues through combining technology (Uranus) with natural resources (Taurus): for example, there should be increased demand for solar and wind power.
The Venus-ruled sign of Taurus is also associated with the visual arts and many forms of music, particularly those featuring vocals, so we’re likely to see powerful messages of social change through art and music. It’s no accident that John Lennon (creator of “Give Peace a Chance”, “Imagine” and other songs promoting peace and love) was born with Uranus in Taurus.
Uranus will also revolutionise other Taurus-related areas such as finance and banking. We’re already experiencing the early stages of this through recent damaging reports that have undermined trust in Australia’s major banks. As Taurus also rules fashion and beauty, Uranus is likely to revolutionise these industries as well – perhaps through a movement towards natural clothing and cosmetics, and wider awareness of the healing benefits of jewellery made from natural gemstones rather than artificial materials.
While Uranus in Taurus will have a global effect, those of us with planets in the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) will be most affected by this planetary phase and could experience some challenges when Uranus moves close to these planets in our individual charts.
Just remember that Uranus contacts are designed to liberate us from patterns of behaviour that are holding us back from positive change – so we need to welcome its energies rather than struggle against them!
