January 10, 2018

In yesterday’s blog we looked at the impact of the peace-loving number 2 in 2018. Its influence is strong this year as we have a Universal Year number 2 in the world of numerology. Today I’d like to give you a closer look at the number 2 so you can really get a feel for its energies and utilise them fully in 2018.

The receptive, nurturing influence of the number 2 is in many ways a “feminine” type of energy. Astrologically, the number 2 is associated primarily with the Moon, the celestial body that represents the realm of feelings, instincts and emotional security needs. The Moon is also associated with mothering, or parental feelings in general, and the instinct to nurture new life of any kind.

We have a whole millennium ahead of us that features the number 2. (It started in the year 2000 and will end in 2999.) So the fact that we have a Universal Year number 2 this year gives additional strength and focus to this caring, supportive number. This is quite a contrast to the individualistic, assertive, pioneering approach of the more “masculine” number 1 that dominated the previous millennium (years AD 1000 – 1999).

The influence of the 2 suggests that we’re slowly and subtly making a shift to a more heart-centred, feeling-based, peace loving approach to life – even if that often seems hard to imagine during our current “the-old-ways-of-doing-things-are-clearly-not-working” phase.

The somewhat feminine nature of the 2 is reflected in the growing interest in various forms of goddess worship and the matriarchal, non-warrior civilisations of the past. The number 2 is also associated with heightened sensitivity, intuition and psychic powers – attributes that are gradually becoming more valued in the 21st century.

It’s interesting to note that the tarot’s Major Arcana card number 2 is the High Priestess – a card that urges us to get in touch with our intuition and the inner wisdom we all have at a deep level.

Thank heavens we have these little reminders to stay on track in building a better world! Once again, I hope you have an inspiring and fulfilling 2018!
